Labour Migration and Employment Law
International business, business travel and cross-border employment have become an integral part of the dynamic world of HR. International mobility also means dealing with the rules and legislation of other countries, bringing unique challenges and questions.
Do you have a foreign employee coming to work in the Netherlands? If so, you may need to apply for a work permit. In which situations is this required? What are the risks if you do not comply with the regulations? Is your knowledge completely up to date? Do you know the pitfalls and opportunities associated with the different procedures? When should you follow the “intra-corporate transfer” procedure and when should you use the highly skilled migrant procedure? What obligations do these procedures place on you as an employer? And are you familiar with the benefits of recognised sponsorship and why this status can sometimes be necessary?
Naturally, you will also encounter the employment law implications of international assignments. Which type of employment contract should you choose? Which specific legislation should you take into account? And what about dismissal in international situations? We will address all these questions and provide time for practical questions.
“This seminar is about raising awareness of the many complexities within the immigration profession, because it involves much more than simply an administrative process. My expectation is that after participating, people will be better able to identify the risks and opportunities associated with certain choices and steps in advance.” – Wytske Wijnnobel
This seminar is relevant for people in the following roles: Global Mobility Managers, HR professionals and C&B Managers.

Expat Ruling (30% Ruling)
During this session, we will take a closer look at a common topic in cross-border employment: the expat ruling (30% ruling). This is a Dutch tax facility designed to make working in the Netherlands more attractive for employees recruited from abroad. The expat ruling can also be applied to employees assigned abroad from the Netherlands.
Among the questions we will discuss are: what conditions must be met? Which costs can be covered through the expat ruling? How does the application process work? Can the expat ruling simply be transferred to a new employer? How long can the expat ruling be applied?
We will also discuss several current developments relating to the expat ruling.
After attending this session, you will have greater knowledge of:
- The expedited application procedure for the expat ruling
- The opportunities and potential pitfalls within the conditions of the expat ruling
- The latest status of the expat ruling
